This unit is automatic. It is controlled by the integral fan system and will automatically sample the air every hour. More efficient when connected to a central HVAC system, the Comfort-Aire WHD-130A  adjusts the AC, furnace or heater to your desired levels, halting the dehumidification and resuming once the optimal levels have been met. Optional remote dehumidistat sold separately. Optional wall mounted controls and hanger kit also available. Maintenance is minimal with its washable, nylon mesh filter.

Advantages

Built for convenience, the washable filter keeps the unit running at peak condition with hardly any maintenance. Quiet and energy efficient, the Comfort-Aire WHD-130A  is less cumbersome than portable models. Flexible ducts connected to air conditioner’s return duct or drain eliminates the need for emptying buckets which portable models possess.

Disadvantages

The main disadvantage of this model is that it must be professionally installed. The Comfort-Aire WHD-130A  does not come with an on/off switch and requires an electrician to hardwire the unit into an existing electrical system. A 15 amp dedicated circuit is needed. A professional is also needed to run a drain line.

Conclusion

Although more costly than portable units, the Comfort-Aire WHD-130A whole house dehumidifier eliminates the need for a portable unit in every room. This unit is efficient, effective and affordable despite its drawbacks.
